Alan Kurdi

A two year-old Kurdish-Syrian boy who drowned in the Aegean on September 2, 2015, along with his mother and brother, as the family sought safety in Greece. Alan’s body was washed up on the shores of Turkey. His images circulated globally and became a powerful symbol of the deadly consequences of European border policies.
