23.000 Leben - The Netflix Movie

A film about the story of Jugend Rettet and the Iuventa, the people we met at sea and helped survive the crossing, and the repression we faced for doing so.

23,000 Lives is available exclusively on Netflix worldwide from 17 July.

Inspired by the true story of Jugend Rettet, 23,000 Lives follows a group of young people who refuse to stand by as countless people fleeing to Europe die in the Mediterranean. With no experience in sea rescue, they launch a crowdfunding campaign, buy an old ship, and go on to save the lives of more than 23,000 people. But what begins as a shared mission full of hope and determination soon puts their understanding of law and justice to a severe test.

Drected by Markus Goller and written by Oliver Ziegenbalg in collaboration with Michele Cinque, features a star-studded cast: Louis Hofmann, Mala Emde, Katharina Stark, Frederick Lau, Maria Dragus, Trevor Magaya, Kathy Etoa, Felice, Saibon Wang, Joone Dankou, Merlin von Garnier, Luisa-Céline Gaffron, and Omid Memar. Guest appearances include Corinna Harfouch, Ulrich Matthes, Franka Potente, Katja Riemann, Frank Plasberg, Herbert Knaup, and Eleonora Romandini.
